About TDI
An Olympic Games for British Parliamentary debating
A professionally run international debate league franchise in the world's
most prestigious debating format.
We are TDI.
National Teams
Each franchise features at its core a national team of at least eight debaters. This national team represents one designated country or region to TDI as a recognized entry to the world championship. Franchise owners are invested in the league’s expansion to become the world's main platform for international debating.
Prize Fund and Scholarships
The winning pair at the inaugural edition of TDI will bring home for their national team a cash prize of ¥10000 Chinese yuan (subject to possible increases) - other prizes and scholarships are also in store.
Exclusive Chief Adjudicators
Sajid Khandaker
Sajid is an alumnus member of the formidable IBADU Debating Club. He now works in the FMCG space with Unilever. He has twice ranked as the Best Speaker of the Asian region in 2017 and 2020. He made the Finals of the HWS Round Robin in New York in 2020 as well. These were some of his achievements before winning the 2022 World Championship with his teammate Sourodip Paul – the first debaters representing an Asian debate club to do so.
Sajid works with TDI on an exclusive basis to deliver his expertise in BP debating to school students the world over.
Sourodip Paul
Sourodip is an alumnus member of both the formidable IBADU Debating Club and the ANU Debating Association. He now works in the development space with the World Bank. He has twice won the Cambridge Inter-varsity in 2020 and 2021 – a feat unique especially at one of history’s most prestigious debating competitions. He achieved this before winning the 2022 World Championship with his teammate Sajid Khandaker – the first debaters representing an Asian debate club to do so.
